When it opened in 2019 Under was billed as the first and largest underwater restaurant in Europe. Designed by the Norwegian architectural and design firm Snøhetta, the restaurant sits 5.5 meters below sea level. Under is in Lindesnes on the North Sea coast of Southern Norway.
From Under’s website:
With the thick concrete walls lying against the craggy shoreline, the structure is built to withstand pressure and shock from the rugged sea conditions. Like a sunken periscope, the restaurant’s massive acrylic windows offer a view of the seabed as it changes throughout the seasons and varying weather conditions. Under aims to provide a journey into the unknown. By welcoming guests to immerse themselves in the Norwegian marine ecosystem, Under provides a new niche for underwater tourism. Each guest will be given a unique opportunity to experience a submerged universe, exploring marine life in ways they otherwise may never see.
Sounds like Under is worth checking out: underwater restaurant with amazing architecture, North Sea exposure, interesting cuisine and otherworldly views.
